The Best of Both Worlds

Hardscape can be thought of as hard, yet movable, parts of the landscape such as gravel, pavers and retaining walls. Hardscape landscaping is solid and unchanging, it can be natural or manmade with stone, wood or manufactured brick. Some examples of hardscapes can be brick patios to boulder walls with pergolas tied into them.
softscaping around a house

Softscape's are essentially the opposite of hardscapes. The installation process is similar but materials used are quite different. Instead of installing a stone walkway, mulch can be used following plants and living things. Nature is the supplier for most softscape installs, such as plants, ground cover and other non-permanent materials.
